This week the Be Well team wanted to remind everyone how improve a healthy lifestyle can be. If you are feeling the winter blues recently, lets get you back to your norm before spring time! We want YOU to be feeling 100% by the time the sun is out past 6pm :P.
1) EXERCISE: “I like to move it, move it”
If you are someone who has a daily routine with exercise, AWESOME KEEP IT UP!! If you are not, there are many little things we can do to work in activity and exercise into your daily routine.
Walk to someone’s desk to deliver a message rather than sending an email
Park further away from the front door of your building to increase that step count
Take the stairs not the elevator
Take the dog outside rather then let them outside and watch TV
The goal to get you through winter should be 150 minutes of activity a week! Meaning at least 30 mins a day for at least 5 days a week!
2) PHYSICAL CARE: let’s treat your injuries
If you are unable to get active because of nagging injuries we can help! Sometimes pain relief can be accomplished through physical care by a physiotherapist, chiropractor and massage therapist. Physical therapy (PT) involves treatments that focus on prevention and management of injuries or disabilities. PT helps to relieve pain, promote healing, and restore function and movement.
PT is practiced by a professionally trained physical therapist. A physical therapist is a specialist skilled and educated specifically in evaluation and conservative management, including rehabilitation, of orthopaedic, neurologic, and cardiovascular conditions.
If you are suffering from anything physical, come get assessed and treated! YOU WILL FEEL BETTER!!
3) Self-Care:
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including:
Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry
Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse
Family history of mental health problems
Positive mental health allows people to:
Realize their full potential
Cope with the stresses of life
Work productively
Make meaningful contributions to their communities
Ways to maintain positive mental health include:
Getting professional help if you need it
Connecting with others
Staying positive
Getting physically active
Helping others
Getting enough sleep
Developing coping skills
Physical and mental issues are linked. If you need help, reach out and talk to someone! Everyone here at Be Well are always here to listen and help 🙂
Winter is almost over!! Spring is just around the corner 🙂
